The AI Chat is your guide, mentor, and coach for driving your AI program forward. It has full access to everything in your Kowalah platform — your projects, initiatives, tasks, organization context, and accelerators — so it can give you relevant, informed guidance through natural conversation.

What the AI can do

The AI Chat goes beyond simple question-and-answer. It can take actions on your behalf:
  • Navigate your workspace — access project details, initiative statuses, organization information, and stakeholder data
  • Create and update entities — create initiatives, draft Expert Requests, and manage accelerators through conversation
  • Work with files — read project documents, create new files, and edit existing content
  • Search the web — look up information relevant to your AI program
  • Multi-step workflows — chain multiple actions together to complete complex tasks without you directing each step

Starting a conversation

Click AI Chat in the sidebar to start a new conversation. You can also open a chat from within a project, initiative, or accelerator, and the AI will automatically have context about that entity.

General chats

Open a new chat from the sidebar for broad questions or tasks that span multiple projects:
  • “What’s the overall status of our AI program?”
  • “Help me prioritize our initiative pipeline”
  • “Draft a business case for a new AI use case”

Entity-scoped chats

Open a chat from within a specific project or initiative, and the AI automatically has context:
  • From a project: “Summarize the progress on this project’s milestones”
  • From an initiative: “What tasks are still outstanding for this initiative?”
  • From an accelerator: “How should we adapt this accelerator for our finance team?”

Tips for effective prompting

Be specific about what you want

Instead of “Help me with AI”, try:
  • “Draft an Expert Request for a Claude skill that automates our weekly reporting process. It should pull data from our CRM and generate a summary for the leadership team.”

Provide context

The AI knows about your organization, but it helps to include specifics:
  • Your role and department
  • Timeline constraints
  • Who the output is for
  • Industry-specific considerations

Ask for a specific format

If you need a structured output, say so:
  • “Create a table comparing our three active initiatives by stage, owner, and target date”
  • “Write this as a one-page brief suitable for our board meeting”

Build on previous messages

The AI remembers your conversation. You can refine and iterate:
  • “Make that more concise”
  • “Now adapt it for a non-technical audience”
  • “Add a section on risks”

Managing your chats

  • Search — find past conversations using the search bar in the chat sidebar
  • Recent chats — your most recent conversations appear at the bottom of the sidebar for quick access
  • Delete — remove conversations you no longer need
