Claude Team and Enterprise plans let workspace owners decide which plugins members get, from Organization settings > Plugins & skills. Instead of each person downloading and installing them, you add Kowalah’s plugins once and set who gets each one. This covers both the free Concierge Plugins and the Kowalah Plugin. On these plans, members only see the plugins you make available. A member searching Discover for Kowalah will not find it until you have done the steps on this page, and they cannot add its connector themselves.
Only Claude workspace Owners and Primary Owners can manage organization plugins, plus Enterprise members whose custom role includes managing libraries. The Skills switch in Organization settings > Plugins & skills > Policy must be on, because plugins are switched off with it.

Before you start

1

Confirm your Claude plan and role

You need a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, and you need to be an Owner or Primary Owner of the workspace.
2

Check Skills is on

In Organization settings > Plugins & skills, open the Policy tab and confirm Skills is turned on. If it is off, members see “Skills must be enabled in order to use plugins”.
3

Download the plugin .zip files

Download whichever you want to distribute. The Kowalah Plugin is also in Anthropic’s plugin directory, which is the route we recommend: it updates itself and you do not need the .zip. On the Marketplaces tab, check Anthropic Directory is listed, then on the Inventory tab make sure the Kowalah copy from Anthropic Directory is Available to install. Uploading the .zip is only needed for Installed by default or Required. See Kowalah Plugin for the full steps.
4

If you are rolling out the Kowalah Plugin, add its connector too

Making a plugin available does not add the connector it bundles, and members on Team and Enterprise plans cannot add a custom connector themselves. Go to Organization settings > Connectors, select Add, then Custom (choose Web if asked), and add https://mcp.kowalah.com/api/mcp named Kowalah. Without it, the Kowalah Plugin’s skills load but every tool call fails. The Concierge Plugins do not need this.

Upload the plugins

Verify before you distribute. Organization-managed plugins reach every member, so it’s worth confirming what’s inside before you upload, especially with any .zip from any vendor. Each Kowalah plugin is a bundle of Claude skills, which are plain markdown files describing behaviours Claude should adopt. The Kowalah Plugin is also public at kowalah-dev/kowalah-plugin if you would rather read it on GitHub. You can check what’s inside two ways:
  • Visually — expand the .zip and browse the folder. Every skill is readable markdown.
  • With Claude — drop the expanded folder into a Claude conversation and ask “What does this plugin do?”. Claude will summarize each skill.
Once you’re satisfied, upload the .zip file, not the expanded folder. If you expanded the archive to inspect it, re-compress the folder into a .zip before uploading. Claude also runs a security scan on uploaded plugins when Skills and plugins scanning is on in the Policy tab.
1

Open Plugins & skills

Go to Organization settings > Plugins & skills.
2

Upload each plugin

Select Add, then Upload a plugin, and choose the .zip. Repeat for each plugin you want to add.
3

Find them on the Inventory tab

Uploaded plugins appear on the Inventory tab, private to your organization, ready for you to set who gets them.

Control who gets each plugin

For each plugin, open the menu at the end of its row on the Inventory tab, select Default access, and choose one: Changes take effect on each member’s next Claude session or plugin refresh.

A sensible default rollout

A pattern that works well for most customers:
  • Professional Plugin — Installed by default for all members
  • Manager Plugin — Installed by default for managers, Available to install for everyone else
  • Executive Concierge — Available to install, so leaders can opt in
  • Kowalah Plugin — Available to install, so the people running your AI programme can opt in. It needs a Kowalah account, so auto-installing it for everyone would give most of your members a connector they cannot use yet. This is also the only preference available if you add it from the Anthropic directory rather than uploading the .zip.
On Enterprise plans you can take this further and set different preferences for different groups (see below).

Customize by group

Enterprise admins can override a plugin’s organization-wide setting for specific groups. For example, you can auto-install the Manager Plugin for an Engineering Leaders group and leave it as Available for everyone else.To set a group override:
  1. In Organization settings > Plugins & skills, stay on the Inventory tab.
  2. Open the menu at the end of the plugin’s row.
  3. Select Group access….
  4. Choose the group and one of the four settings.
Both manually created groups and SCIM-provisioned groups from your identity provider work the same way.A group’s setting replaces the organization-wide one for that group’s members, even when the group’s setting is stricter. If a member belongs to several groups, the most permissive setting applies: Required > Installed by default > Available to install > Not available. This is different from spend limits, which use the most restrictive value.Connectors work differently. You add a connector for the whole organization, then narrow it with custom roles, which you assign through groups. A role can set a connector to Always allow, Needs approval, or Blocked, and Blocked hides it from members with that role. So to limit the Kowalah Plugin to one team, set the plugin’s Group access… for that team, and block the Kowalah connector in the roles of everyone else. See Anthropic’s role-based permissions guide, and check it covers Kowalah in your organization: the guide describes connectors added by an Owner, and Kowalah is one people sign in to individually.

Keep plugins up to date

When Kowalah releases an update:
  1. Download the new .zip. Concierge Plugins are at kowalah.com/concierge-plugin; the Kowalah Plugin is at kowalah-plugin.zip, which always serves the latest release.
  2. In Organization settings > Plugins & skills, open the plugin from the Inventory tab.
  3. Open its menu and select Upload new version, then choose the new file.
Members get the update on their next session or plugin refresh. If a new version causes trouble, Version history on the plugin’s page lets you compare versions and Revert to this version. If you made the Kowalah Plugin available from Anthropic’s directory rather than uploading it, there is nothing to do: members get new versions automatically.
Organization marketplaces can also sync from GitHub instead of manual upload, but the repository must be private or internal, so this does not work for Kowalah’s public repositories. It is useful if you maintain your own internal plugins alongside Kowalah’s. See Anthropic’s guide to syncing your organization’s plugins from a repository.Individuals can install the Kowalah Plugin for themselves from Anthropic’s plugin directory, under Customize > Plugins > Discover. If you would rather not track releases yourself, making it available from the directory, or letting people add it themselves, is the lighter option. See Kowalah Plugin.

What members experience

Once the plugins are uploaded and preferences are set:
  • Auto-installed plugins appear in each member’s installed list without any action.
  • Available plugins show up under Customize > Plugins > Discover.
  • Required plugins are installed and cannot be uninstalled.
  • Organization plugins cannot be edited by members, which keeps coaching consistent across your team.
Members don’t need a Kowalah account to use the Concierge Plugins. To unlock the full experience, have them also connect the MCP connector so Claude can see their Kowalah projects, deliverables, and Expert Requests. The Kowalah Plugin is different: it needs a Kowalah account, and its skills return nothing until a member’s account is attached to your organization. Members sign in with their work email on first use. If its skills load but every tool call fails, the organization connector has not been added (see Before you start).

Troubleshooting

The file must be a valid .zip containing one .claude-plugin/plugin.json. If your browser expanded the archive, re-compress it. Re-download from kowalah.com/concierge-plugin or kowalah-plugin.zip if you’re unsure the file is intact.
Check the plugin’s Default access and any Group access… settings. If it’s Not available for a member, they won’t see it. For the Kowalah Plugin from the directory, also check Anthropic Directory is still listed on the Marketplaces tab. And confirm Skills is on in the Policy tab.
Your organization has both the directory copy and an uploaded .zip. On the Inventory tab, search for Kowalah, keep the one whose Source is Anthropic Directory, and set the uploaded one to Not available.
Changes take effect on each member’s next session or plugin refresh. Ask a few members to restart Claude if you need to verify the rollout.
