Admin setup
A Teams administrator uploads the Kowalah app package to your organization’s Teams Admin Centre. This makes the app available to everyone in your organization.kowalah-teams-app.zip file you downloadedOnce uploaded, the app appears in your organization’s app catalogue. You may need to approve it depending on your organization’s app policies:
The admin only needs to do this once. After the app is uploaded and approved, individual team members install it themselves from the Teams app store.
Individual user setup
Once the admin has uploaded the app, each user installs it and links their Kowalah account.Open the Teams app store (click Apps in the sidebar) and look under Built for your org. Find and install Kowalah.
The first time you mention Kowalah, it will ask you to link your Teams identity to your Kowalah account. Follow the provided link to sign in. This is a one-time step.
Where it works
- Team channels — visible to channel members
- Group chats — visible to chat participants
- Personal chat — private 1:1 conversation with the Agent (find Kowalah in your apps and start a direct message)
What to expect
- First message: ~20 seconds while workspace context loads
- Follow-ups: 3-5 seconds with context already available
- Typing indicator: Shows while the Agent processes your request
